I’m obsessed, more than ever. A therapist might tell me that my mind is totally and completely infested with thoughts of manifestation delusions. I have bigger visions of the future than ever before—massive ideas of the possibilities.
Ok, I can already hear some of you rolling your eyes and whispering that I have gone totally to the woo-woo corner of philosophy. That is the next thing: you know, I’ll be this incense-burning, mantra-chanting lunatic when it comes to personal or business development discussions.
Before you get out the straitjacket, cool your jets for a second. Open your mind, listen, learn, and try to understand what I’m trying to lay on you. Let’s start by clarifying exactly what a manifestation mindset is. The concept has been around since the Stoics of ancient Rome and maybe even before. It’s all about being a bit of a dreamer; sometimes it’s just remembering how to dream and allowing yourself to have big, honking, outlandish dreams and visions.
It starts with your mindset. I’ve written quite a lot about the two most prevalent mindsets today. One is a mindset of survival. Survivalists will be heard saying, “I’m just getting by. I don’t know what to do, so I’m going to wait and see. Who knows what is happening in our world today?” At the same time, someone with a possibility mindset might be thinking about the opportunities and possibilities the world can offer. They would be looking for the “gaps” and how they can fill them by supplying positive thoughts, ideas, products, and services to the marketplace.
The possibility mindset is directly related to the principles of manifestation.
Most people don’t understand, though. They think that manifestation is when you meditate or pray for something that you want, and bingo, that’s all you need to do to make it happen.
And you couldn’t be more wrong. Manifestation is real, and anyone can learn to use it to improve their lives and the lives of those around them.
Step 1. Have a clear VISION. A vision is clearly identifying what you want. It’s not saying you want to be rich. It’s asking to be a billionaire. The vision is so clear to you that you can close your eyes and see yourself as a billionaire, walking, talking, acting, and living like one. The Manifested vision can be anything from asking to be a billionaire, or it can be you visualizing that you’re sitting on a new couch. It doesn’t matter what you’re asking for; it just needs to be crystal clear in your mind and passionate about the vision.
And here’s the secret to the vision.
You don’t have to tell anyone. Don’t share it. If I ever shared most of the visions that I’ve created for myself, people would just feel validated in thinking that I was truly crazy. And it’s happened. So, keep it to yourself, but believe in it with all your heart and soul.
Step 2: Turn your clear vision into a written GOAL. I strongly believe that you cannot have a clear and written goal without a vision. Set the goal, include an anticipated achievement date, and outline the key steps you need to take to achieve it, thereby making your Vision a reality. The trick to making it happen, though, is that you cannot simply meditate, pray, or dream about Vision. The secret is this. You must get off your butt and go to work to do everything you can to achieve your vision.
The results can be miraculous. Sometimes it can happen quickly, sometimes it takes years, but if you keep faith in your vision and in yourself, it will happen. One of my visions was to have a house in the mountains near where we lived. I visualized all details. I could close my eyes and tell you which direction it faced and what the view was from the big windows. I could see what kind of chandelier was in the entryway. I could visualize the carpet’s color. I could see what the construction material was. I kept the vision closely guarded, but that vision was what drove much of my success, and 18 years later, my wife and I were wandering around a mountain community that we loved, and there it was, the exact home that was in my vision.
We bought it.
My youngest son lives very simply. He needed a new couch but couldn’t afford one. He called me a couple of weeks ago and told me he had a vision of himself watching football on his new couch. He went to work. He went as far as to throw out his ratty old couch and make space for a better one. In less than two weeks, he said, a neighbor called to say they had a couch they were going to sell and that he could have it if he just came and picked it up. My son just smiled. In his mind, he willed it to happen.
I’m not making this stuff up.
Just look to history. Think about the vision, toughness, passion, and thick skin that people like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, the Wright brothers, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk had. They maintained their vision regardless of the criticism, and they truly changed the world.
No matter how crazy this may sound to some of you, try it. You don’t have to tell anyone. Just sit down in a quiet place. Shut off your phone. Turn off the music. Shut off the lights and challenge yourself to see how big you will allow yourself to dream. Write down your thoughts, then 10x that vision and see what you come up with. Put the vision on paper, then strategize the steps you need to take to realize it. Create goals that feed the vision.
Then go to work.
Personally, I’m locked and loaded with a solid, clear 10-year vision. I want to reach 100 million people through my coaching, training, speaking, writing, and mentoring. Laugh if you want, but why don’t you make a note to check back with me in five years and see where I’m at?
The universe works in mysterious ways when you’re sending clear signals.
You might surprise yourself.
